The Government of Meghalaya has intensified its fight against tuberculosis with the launch of the “100 Days TB Campaign – Phase II” in Shillong on World TB Day.
Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said eliminating TB requires a strong community-driven approach, highlighting increased health investment under Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. He also announced upcoming medical colleges in Shillong and Tura to strengthen healthcare capacity.
Officials including Neela E. Kharsahnoh and J.S. Momin emphasized the use of AI-enabled screening and portable X-rays to improve early detection and treatment.
The campaign focuses on active case finding, timely diagnosis, and awareness. Meghalaya has already made progress, with over 1,200 villages declared TB-free.
Authorities urged public participation to eliminate stigma and support patients, reaffirming the state’s commitment to a TB-free future.
