The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB), along with magistrates and police, conducted a surprise inspection in the Khyndailad area on March 25, 2026, to enforce regulations in designated no-vending zones.
The drive covered key locations from 9 Lad point to Dreamland and along GS Road, following reports that some vendors had resumed selling in restricted areas marked as “no vending zones.”
During the inspection, authorities did not find any street vendors operating illegally. However, several shops were found displaying goods beyond their premises. Officials directed shopkeepers to remove the items and maintain proper boundaries.
The SMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining order and ensuring compliance with regulations in busy commercial areas.
