Khasi woman found dead in rented room in Bengaluru

Shillong: A Khasi woman was found dead in her rented room in Bengaluru on the evening of April 29.

The deceased has been identified as Agatha Baithianghun Khongwet (34), a resident of Tangmang village under Pynursla in East Khasi Hills district.

According to available information, her body was discovered around 7:00–7:30 pm by her partner in the room they shared on rent in Hebbal, Bengaluru. Her partner has been identified as Nawaz Sharif from Manipur.

Preliminary information suggests that the woman may have taken her own life, as claimed by her partner. However, police have not confirmed this and are conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances of her death.

The police have taken custody of the body for post-mortem examination, and further inquiry is underway.

Members of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Bengaluru Unit, who visited the scene, expressed shock and grief over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved family. The union has also urged authorities to carry out a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the truth.
