Shillong, April 23: In a shocking incident, the body of a man was found hanging inside the premises of Laban Police Station on Thursday morning.
According to sources, the incident is believed to have occurred around 6 AM, when the man allegedly took his own life. His identity and place of residence are yet to be established.
Local shnong representative Vernon Syiem stated that such an incident has never been witnessed before within the police station premises and confirmed that the deceased was not a resident of Laban.
Witnesses reported seeing the man earlier sitting and moving around near the police station. Preliminary inputs suggest he may have been mentally distressed, though this is yet to be officially confirmed.
Police have shifted the body to NEIGRIHMS for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway.
