Shillong, June 12: The Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) disease which is spreading at a rapid rate in several cattle farms of Ri Bhoi and other districts in the State. One of the most affected area is Sumer at Ri-Bhoi and mostly affected the dairy cattle.
As per the Rangbah Shnong of Sumer, Arkini Sumer, he informed that around 5 dairy cows have died due to the fast spread if the disease while others are still suffering from the same disease.
He also informed that, till date there has been no information given by the government and have only heard from the fellow cattle reares that the expired cattles have to be buried.
The Rangbah Shnong also informed that the milk produced by the dairy cows is consumable and doesn’t have any affect and therefore have been consumed as always.
The Rangbah Shnong also added that because the concerned government body has not put up any notification or clarification, therefore, there are no procedure to be followed or directed to all the cattle rearers, the doctors have only tested the cattle and nothing was put on to the milking cows.
