Shillong: The District Commissioner (DC) East Khasi Hills District, RM Kurbah on Monday informed that the department is currently collecting all the lab reports and will then file a detailed presentation which will be submitted to the government by this week.
Since the fifteen days ban on fishes is underway, the department will continue to test on imported fishes and then if found not contaminated they will be allowed to be sold in the market.
“Since most of the rohu fishes are imported from Andhra Pradesh, we are currently testing all rohu fishes coming into the state,” said Kurbah.
The DC also informed that out of 42 fishes that have been tested, 30 tested positive for formalin.
The government has imposed 15 days banned on selling of imported fish, however the DC said they will take several preventive measures before lifting the ban.
