Shillong, April 29: A first-year girl student from Shillong, studying at Modi College in Laxman Garh Sekhawati, Rajasthan, was found dead in her hostel room on April 27, 2023. The student, identified as Walida from Marngar, Ri bhoi district was found hanging in her room under suspicious circumstances.
While the police have registered a case based on the family’s complaint, the question of whether the girl committed suicide or was murdered is being raised. The student’s father refused to believe that his daughter could have committed suicide, claiming that she was very promising and fast in her studies, and was going to receive a prize from the college. She had joined the college this year.
After the post-mortem, the girl’s body was handed over to her relatives and flown back to Shillong. The police are investigating every aspect of the incident.
