Government to invite HPC to discuss on the ‘blueprint’ within this month: Prestone


Shillong: Meghalaya government has extended the dateline for the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) to submit its reply to the government’s proposal for relocating the 342 families of Sweepers’ Colony from Them Iew Mawlong, Shillong.

The initial dateline is on April 10. However, Deputy CM Prestone Tyngsong said that the government will invite the HPC within this month so to know on their stands before the government move forward with the process.

On asked, Deputy CM said he is not aware if any official reply by the HPC has been given, as the reply has to be address to the Urban Affairs department. As the minister incharge of Urban is out of station, once he is in town a meeting will be called, informed Dy CM.

It may be mentioned, Meghalaya government on March 16 have set a deadline for the HPC for submitting its reply within April 10. However, the HPC have asked for another 3 months time to responds in which the State government have rejected.
