Shillong: Two accused drug traffickers were arrested in Ri Bhoi with a total of 8.6kg Marijuana were seized.
The two accused Rohit Raj Pandey (22 Yrs) and Bipul Kumar (19 yrs) were arrested after the Ri Bhoi police along with the ANTF Team Ribhoi acting on a tip off that the two were bringing illegal drug consignment from Silchar towards Guwahati in one Tourist Bus.
Swinging swiftly into action, the ANTF Ri Bhoi apprehended one bus bearing registration number AS 24C 9855 was detained at around 8:30 AM on Tuesday morning.
Search was conducted and a total of 07(seven) packages suspected to contain illegal contraband were recovered from two accused person. Later, weight and measurement was conducted followed by preliminary testing. During weighing, the weight of the recovered packed contrabands were found to be 8.6kg and the test result of the preliminary test conducted on the spot showed positive for Marijuana.
The two accused were detained and criminal case against them will be taken up as per the NDPS Act.
