Guv’s first address to focus on Mukrhoh, HNLC peace talks, Border disputes and other key issues

Shillong: The Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan will address the newly constituted Meghalaya Legislative Assembly schedule on the first day of Assembly session on Monday will lay special emphasis on several important issues concerning the State of Meghalaya.

The Governor’s first address to a newly-elected legislative assembly holds an important place in the Indian democratic system.

Informing media personnel on Friday, Cabinet Minister and government official spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh said that the Governor’s traditional first address to the newly constituted Assembly house will focus on concerning issues – the Mukroh incident and steps that have been taken by the government, the ongoing talks with the Hynñiewtrep National Liberal Council (HNLC) which has come to a point of closure very soon, Border dispute between the State of Assam and Meghalaya amongst others.

Lyngdoh further informed that the Governor’s address will also stress on Youth programmes, art and culture, and tourism sector in the State.
