SHILLONG, September 22: The National Spokesperson of the All-India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Saket Gokhale has challenged the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong to a one-on-one over the alleged corruption of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government led by the NPP.
Saket Gokhale had some time ago alleged that the MDA Government has mismanaged the funds of upto Rs.1,005 crores meant for the Shillong Smart City project, and this week he wrote to the Minister incharge of PWD(Building) in Meghalaya over the allotment of contract for the construction of the new Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to companies which had been rejected at the call for tender stage.
While trying to seek a response from the Deputy Chief Minister on this allegation of Gokhale, Prestone Tynsong yesterday refused to response via the media and said who is that leader of the Trinamool Congress, and if he wants to let him come to Shillong. Tynsong said that such people only want to confuse the minds of the people for political mileage in the election.
In a rebuttal to this statement, Gokhale today wrote a letter to the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya challenging him to a debate in Shillong in the presence of the media and offered that the debate can be held at any time on the first week of October.
