Shillong: The President of the BJP in Meghalaya, Ernest Mawrie said that with regard to the issue to implement the ILP in the State, at present he cannot say much, even if he were to be asked directly, whether the Central Government is ready to implement it before the Election in 2023, he will not be able to give a clear picture on the certainty of it being granted.
However, from what he has understood, at present it is an issue of demand, the Central Government has handed the matter to the Ministry of Home Affairs to peruse and scrutinize the details on the matter.
Furthermore, Mawrie informed that from time to time when the Union Ministers visit Meghalaya, in his meeting with the Union Minister, he would also express the demand of the ILP.
As a reminder, on the 19th of December, 2019 the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in the Special Session passed a resolution to have the Central Government hear and urge upon it the necessity to promptly implement the ILP in Meghalaya.
