Today the HYC held a public rally in Nongstoiñ, West Khasi Hills District which was also in part to strongly oppose the MoU signed by the Meghalaya Government and Assam Government bypassing the Himas, the Raids and residents of the area.
The meeting began with the public walking on foot from Spengthawlang Mlah Free Morning School, New Nongstoin and ended with a public meeting for speeches to be delivered at the compound of the Market Complex, New Nongstoiñ.
On this day were also present the local village administrators, leaders of Hima from the interstate border area which include Birbor Riangtem, Secretary of Hima Nonglang Sirdar Shop, West Khasi Hills District and Jones Sohshang, Secretary of Hima Nongmynsaw Syiemship among others and the meeting was conducted by Lumlang Kharsyiemlieh, President of HYC, West Khasi Hills District.
After the meeting, the public who attended the meeting also contributed money as much as they could afford towards Hima Nonglang to fight the case legally and the collected money was handed over to the Myntri of the Hima.
