Shillong : The adhoc school teachers under the banner of the Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya (FASTOM) on the 9th of May stood in agitation in front of the Secretariat owing to the failure in meeting with the Chief Minister, Conrad K.Sangma even after an appointment had been fixed.
The Adhoc teachers came out to agitate today in pursuance of their demands after receiving the information that the file pertaining to the demands of the teachers has been put before the Chief Minister now.
The Vice President of FASToM said that if the teachers cannot meet or speak with the Chief Minister, the agitation infront of the Secretariat will continue tomorrow as well, and if the Government remains silent then the teachers will hold a huge rally from the 12th of May in Shillong and Tura.
It may be pointed that the Adhoc school teachers have demanded an increase of salary from Rs.12,000/- to Rs. 18,000/- from the Government, along with a yearly increment of 5 percent, and till now, the Government has expressed that this demand is being examined.
