HEADLINES

SHILLONG, May 02: The Education Minister of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui said that after the National Testing Agency (NTA) made the announcement of conducting the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admissions in colleges affiliated to Central Universities, the State Government corresponded several times with the Central Government to exempt Meghalaya from CUET.

He informed that in the meeting between the Chief Minister, Conrad K.Sangma and the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan at Delhi today, CUET was agreed to be exempted for admissions into Government aided Colleges in the State while for admissions into the undergraduate programmes under the NEHU administration, the admissions will be done through the CUET score, of which an example is the Law Department in the NEHU campus which is under the administration of NEHU.

He said that the approval to exempt the CUET has greatly eased the Department of Education of the State and the students as well, while reiterating that the State is not ready for the examination because the students are still very confused about it and especially because there is a lack of examination centres.
