SHOULD HAVE REVEALED FROM THE START TO THE RCs, DR.AMPAREEN SUPPORTS THE CM ON THE BORDER RESOLUTION

SHILLONG, April 08: The MLA of East Shillong suspended from the Congress party, Dr. M.Ampareen Lyngdoh has extended her support to the statement of the Chief Minister,Conrad Kongkal Sangma in connection with the Border Resolution of 6 sites of dispute in the first phase, which stated that once the MoU is signed, it cannot be retracted.

She said that at the time of the public hearing held by the Regional Committees, ample time was extended to all stakeholders prior to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). On the dissatisfaction of the public in a few sites, she said that supports what the Chief Minister has stated for any thing that needed to said should have been expressed at the time when the Regional Committees conducted a joint inspection at these sites, and for other views and wishes expressed later on, the time has passed.

Ampareen said that the Government has given all the chances to all stakeholders of the border resolution, including the political parties, civil society organisations, individuals to express their views in writing or by meeting with the Regional Committees.

She said that the political parties should just accept the decision on the border resolution in the first phase, and added that the MDA Government has done the right thing in firstly taking up the resolution for the first phase, and probably a few additions may be required here and there, and added that stakeholders should not lose hope because they have sent the petitions to the Government of India, the resolver of all confusions.

Ampareen said that the political parties should take constructive steps and not make this an election issue otherwise the resolution of the border dispute can never be completed.
