The Seng Samla of Mawlai Pyllun today visited Marten along with representatives from the Municipal Board.

In their visit to this site, the Seng Samla under the leadership of Samuel Biam said that they have seen a few changes in Marten but they are not satisfied yet and praised the Government and the Municipal Board for having taken steps to reduce the foul smell from this site.

Samuel Biam said that the Seng Samla have received complaints from the residents of Mawlai after many garbage trucks dumping waste in Marten do not cover the waste collected and the Seng Samla has warned them if they do not cover the waste then the Seng Samla will stop the trucks and send them back.

Furthermore, Samuel Biam said that there has been a cooperation with the Municipal to clean up this area however it is still lacking with there being no proper compose plant to dump the waste generated from compost making.

On the other hand, Biam said that as long as the Government is calling a tender for land owners willing to sell their plot of land to the Government in order to instate a compost plant and clarified further that with regards to the recent compost plant, there had been an opposition from the residents of Kyrdem, Ri-Bhoi in starting the compost plant in their village.
