HERD OF WILD ELEPHANTS DESTROY CROPS IN KALAPATHAR, ONE INJURED WHILE SAFEGUARDING CROPS

Ranikor,March 16: As per the complaint filed in Ranikor Police Station, SWKHD an incident occured in Kalapathar village which is under Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, SWKHD in which a herd of wild elephants rampaged and destroyed areca nut and betel leaves fields, while one person sustained injuries as he was trying to safeguard his crops from being completely destroyed by the elephants. The injured person has been taken to Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, SWKHD for medical treatment.

As per the report, it is said that this incident occured on the night of the 15th of March at around 10:00 PM and the injured person is identified as Choki D.Shira, about 31 years of age, son of R.Marak.

The All Khasi Hills Achik Federation (AKHAF) has submitted a request to the office of the Department of Wildlife to help the man who is in need of treatment for injuries he sustained while trying to chase away the herd of elephants that destroyed the aforementioned crop fields.
