Shillong: RTI social activist, Disparsing Rani has come forward to rebuke the comments lashed out by the Education Minister in the state, Lahkmen Rymbui at the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan or SSA school teachers.
Speaking with media persons today, Rani expounded on the statement made by Rymbui about some schools having only two to three students, which in his opinion is a belittling statement.
With regards to this, Rani had in the past revealed the findings in the RTI report which was filed to find out about the student-teacher ratio in the Lower Primary and Upper Primary schools runned by the Government or Government Lower and Upper Primary Schools.
As per the RTI report, Rani found that in schools runned by the Government with the salaries of the teachers also being paid by the Government, the number of teachers was more than the number of students.
Whereas there are schools in the deficit category where the number of students is large but the number of teachers is less.
