Today the four civil society organisations consisting of the KSU,HNYF,RBYF and the FKJGP called for a meeting with the Headmen of the different localities under Umsning village for a consultation on how to protect the village from an excessive influx of migrants who come and snatch away livelihood opportunities of the local residents as had already happened in several places.
In this meeting, a clarification was also given to the local village administrators to reignite the demand of the organisation on ILP which due to the Covid-19 pandemic has remained pending and while they get this chance they have gathered all the Headmen to speak and enlighten them on the ILP,CAB and MRSSAA.
On this day, Headmen of Ri-Bhoi District participated in the consultation meeting in which were also present Presidents of the four organisations, Lambokstar Marngar,Central body President of the KSU, Bipul Thangkhiew, Central body President of the RBYF, Sadon Blah, President of HNYF, Dundeeclif Khongsit, President of the FKJGP as well as other leaders of the different circles and units.
A few Headmen who got the chance to speak in this consultation meeting expressed a sense of encouragement and support on this opportunity to deliberate on the matters of safety and security of the village and it’s people, besides this they also expressed that if the village as a whole is strong as one and they do not allow migrants to earn a livelihood or become domiciles in the village then this is already an ILP of sorts started by the village itself. Rocky Kylla, one of the local village administrators gave a suggestion that a pamphlet book be made in which explanations and awareness on the ILP and the others laws are detailed and the same be distributed to every village with the local village administrators teaching and enlightening the public on the ILP.
