THEIR EXIT OPENS THE DOOR FOR OTHERS TO JOIN THE PARTY: UDP RI-BHOI

HEADLINES

Nongpoh: Donbok Khymdeit, a senior leader of the United Democratic Party in Ri-Bhoi District expressed that one may think without a doubt that the exit of 120 party members will affect the party especially since the preparation for the upcoming Assembly Election is underway and the date is drawing in closer.

However, Khymdeit said that it cannot be stated now how much and in what way the exit will affect the party because in politics, entry and exit of members is always present and at this point of time too it is nothing new or strange while also claiming that the party will not be affected by the exit.

As a senior party leader in his own domain, Khymdeit said that as it appears at present, there are only 3 members who have decided to exit from the party and these are Sumar Swer, President of the Youth Wing, UDP, Ri-Bhoi District, Lawrence Nongrum, General Secretary of UDP, Ri-Bhoi District and Reynold Kharkamni,Vice President of UDP, Ri-Bhoi District and as for the others added together in the fold, as a party leader he cannot ascertain as yet.

Donkupar Sumer on the other hand expressed that the claim of upto 121 members exiting the party requires some kind of factual proof first although it is strange that just on the 7th of this month, a gathering was held by the party to welcome the entry of the public from Jirang into the party and in this gathering a decision was also taken for the upcoming election in which the UDP decided to field candidates in all the 5 constituencies of Ri-Bhoi District and if the people truly supports, the party without a doubt will emerge victorious in the election.

Furthermore, Sumer also said that in his opinion, the exit of the three leaders will not at all affect the party but their exit does however opens the door for others to join the party.
