Shillong: After the President of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee appointed Shri. Process T.Sawkmie as President of the Shillong City Congress Committee, today a special meeting of this committee was held in Shillong in which several matters were deliberated.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, P.N Syiem who is one the Working Presidents along with Process T.Sawkmie and Augustar Jyrwa, Secretary organised a press conference to inform the people about the matters that were deliberated in the first meeting of the Committee.
The matters that the Shillong City Congress Committee deliberated upon included the decision to revive the functioning mechanism of the Committee which has under it 7 Legislative Assembly Constituencies and in the constituencies where the party has weaken, a decision to firstly appoint an Ad-hoc President was taken.
Besides this, the meeting also deliberated on the problems faced by the public, major being the traffic congestion which has affected the transport of a majority of people especially in the city, outskirts and even in the rural areas.
With regards to this particular problem, a request was made with the DGP and especially the SP of Traffic Branch, Shillong to take up the matter for a better regulation of traffic in the city.
