SHILLONG, October 07: The National President of National People’s Party (NPP) has said that India allows for the formation of any political party,a right in a democracy that permits for the existence of several ideological voices but the most important question that needs to be asked is will that political party get the support of the public in the election.
Conrad said this in response to the formation of a new political party in Meghalaya known as the Voice of the People Party (VPP) with former MLA of Nongkrem,Shri.Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit as President.
Conrad K.Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya and National President of NPP, said that there are about 700 registered political parties out of which some do not have a representative elected by the people. He also said that NPP is 8th amongst the political party recognised as a National Party.
Conrad stated further that as of now,one cannot predict on a certainty that a new political party will perform well in the election.
