SHILLONG, September 28 : The state government today resolved to uphold the election code of conduct in the upcoming bye-election of 2 constituencies in East Khasi Hills District.
The Election Commission of India today announced the dates for the bye-election of 3 constituencies to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly which includes Rajabala, Mawryngkneng and Mawphlang. The ECI announced the 30th of October, 2021 as the election date and the 2nd of November, 2021as the date of polls declaration.
The Chief Minister and also the national President of the National People’s Party, Conrad K. Sangma has said that the party shall field candidates in all the 3 constituencies and names of the candidates will be declared today.
He also said that the ECI had taken the decision after having taken note of the Covid-19 situation and the SOPs to be followed will be formulated by the ECI.
The Meghalaya NPP President and also Rajya Sabha MP, Dr. Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi has said that the party will declare the names of the candidates for the bye-election soon. He also said that the party is confident of winning the election to further strengthen the party.
He also said that NPP does not underestimate the Congress party or any other party who will be contesting in the bye-election.
