Cow Protection Group Threatens Legal Action Against Meghalaya Government Over Entry Ban

The cow protection group, led by Jagadguru Shankaracharya, has threatened to take the Meghalaya government to the Supreme Court after the state blocked the religious leader’s planned visit to Shillong. The group had intended to campaign for the recognition of the cow as the “Mother of India” but was denied entry by authorities, who cited concerns over potential public unrest due to opposition from various local groups.

In response to the ban, Jagadguru Shankaracharya symbolically raised the cow flag from an aircraft at an altitude of 21,000 meters, continuing their mission despite the restrictions.

The Meghalaya government justified the ban, stating that allowing the group’s entry could lead to disruptions in public peace and order, given the strong opposition from local organizations.
