Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma directed the West Garo Hills district administration to urgently provide food aid to communities affected in the Araimile area, Tura.
He noted that around 17 communities in and around Araimile are currently facing shortages of rice and other essential food items.
The Chief Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills to coordinate with all local development committees, to prepare a list of affected households so that relief materials can be distributed fairly.
Sangma stressed that the assistance should be provided immediately.
