Tura residents clear debris after unrest; CM visits affected areas

Shillong: Residents of Tura came out in large numbers to clean the streets of the town following days of unrest that began on March 9.

Men and women, including youths and elders, joined hands to clear debris from different parts of the town with the hope that peace and normalcy would soon return after the recent clashes.

People were seen sweeping the streets, collecting scattered materials and removing stones from the roads. Burnt vehicles were also cleared away as part of the clean-up effort. The drive was carried out in coordination with district authorities, who deployed trucks and sanitation workers to assist residents in restoring cleanliness in the town.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma also visited affected areas in Tura to assess the damage and ensure that normalcy is gradually being restored.
