SHILLONG, October 07 : The Congress candidate for the by-election in Mawryngkneng, Shri.Highlander Kharmalki has said that the news of differences between President of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee, Shri Vincent H.Pala and leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), Dr.Mukul Sangma has no connection with the by-election in Mawryngkneng and that the exit of leaders of the party to support another candidate will instead be beneficial for the Congress in Mawryngkneng.
Highlander Kharmalki filed his nomination for the by-election scheduled for the 30th of this month in a tough fight predicted against NPP candidate,Shri Pyniaid Sing who is also the present MDC from Sohryngkham District Council constituency.
On the query relating to the decision of UDP to support the NPP candidate in Mawryngkneng, Kharmalki said that he had been a candidate of the UDP and PDF before and as of now about 75% of the supporters of the two parties are with Congress in Mawryngkneng.
On the question of his political objectives, the Congress candidate said that the State needs to upgrade itself with modern facility and functioning in all departments of the government.
