High drama unfolded outside the Congress Bhavan at Jail Road, Shillong, on Saturday as workers of the BJP Meghalaya staged a placard protest against Congress leaders over alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother during a rally in Bihar.
Carrying placards, BJP members marched in front of the Congress office, triggering a sharp reaction from Congress workers, who shouted slogans from the building in retaliation. The heated exchange led to a noisy face-off, with both sides raising their voices against each other.
BJP leaders also submitted an FIR at Sadar Police Station, demanding action against the Congress for the remarks. The situation further escalated when senior Congress leaders, who were present at the office, stepped out, leading to a verbal confrontation between the two groups.
BJP members stood their ground outside the office holding placards condemning Congress, while Congress workers responded with counter-slogans, adding to the charged atmosphere.
