The Meghalaya Users Forum (MUF) has responded to Arup Passah, the owner of the Alive Again Foundation, who has been accused of taking commissions from individuals seeking rehabilitation help for drug use.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Barry Kharmalki, the general secretary of MUF, stated that it would be better for Arup to take the matter to court rather than addressing it through the media, as both parties should meet in a legal forum.
Regarding the treatment methods, Barry clarified that according to rehabilitation center guidelines, there is no provision to punish drug addicts; treatment is meant to be provided through consultation. However, Barry stated that Arup has claimed to have used corrective force, adding that such actions were inappropriate.
Barry further criticised Arup for administering medication to patients, stating that despite his experience in the field since 2008, he does not have the authority to administer medication to patients.
