Tura MP and Congress leader Saleng A Sangma stated that if the Voice of the People Party (VPP) expands its activities to other parts of Meghalaya, it would be beneficial for the party. He noted that such expansion would allow the VPP to highlight the government’s actions and shortcomings to the public.
He also speculated that the VPP might consider expanding beyond Meghalaya in the future. Commenting on NPP leader Rakkam A Sangma’s remarks that some leaders in Garo Hills are interested in joining the VPP, Saleng mentioned that political leaders are free to join any party, as it is a common occurrence in politics.
However, he emphasized the need to evaluate whether those leaders genuinely want to serve the people or if their intentions are self-serving. Saleng also affirmed that the Congress, as a national party with hundreds of MPs and governments in several states, will eventually regain power in Meghalaya.
