Mawlai Police Arrest Two Assam-Based Drug Traffickers, Seize 57.51 Grams of Heroin

October 9: In a significant anti-drug operation, the East Khasi Hills Police arrested two drug traffickers from Assam and seized 57.51 grams of heroin. The suspects, identified as Abdul Mukit (43) and Sawrupananda Mohanta (38), were apprehended during a police operation in Mawlai, near Marjan Road and the Banalari showroom.

Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger, confirmed the arrests and stated that the police recovered 5 containers of heroin from the accused. A case has been registered at Mawlai Police Station, and an investigation into the drug trafficking network is currently underway.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on the drug trade in the region.
