Shillong: Meghalaya’s Public Works Minister, Marcuise Marak, has dismissed the allegations made by the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), which accused the department of bypassing the tender process for a ₹188 crore roofing project.
Addressing the media on Monday, Marak clarified that the company handling the project had been selected two years ago, before he took charge as minister. He explained that, under the existing agreement, there was no need to issue a new tender until the current two-year contract period ends.
“There has been no wrongdoing in this matter. The department has followed all necessary protocols,” said Marak, rejecting any claims of favoritism in the tendering process.
