New Delhi: A bizarre accident unfolded in Delhi’s Nirman Vihar on Monday evening when a newly purchased Mahindra Thar worth ₹27 lakh crashed out of a showroom’s first floor during a ritual.
The buyer, 29-year-old Maani Pawar, had decided to perform a customary pooja by placing a lemon under the vehicle’s wheel before driving it out. However, instead of moving forward slowly, she accidentally pressed the accelerator. The SUV broke through the showroom’s glass facade and plunged onto the pavement below.
Inside the car were Ms Pawar and a showroom employee, Vikas. Both sustained minor injuries, but airbags deployed on time, preventing serious harm. They were immediately rushed to Malik Hospital and later discharged after first aid.
Police confirmed the incident and identified Ms Pawar as a resident of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. Videos of the aftermath, showing the overturned Thar on the road, quickly went viral on social media.
The unusual mishap has sparked discussions online about showroom safety and the risks of such rituals inside enclosed spaces.
