“Will Continue Hunger Strike Even in Jail”: H B Nonglang as Police Deploy Bus Near Secretariat

HEADLINES

Shillong, April 9: Tension briefly arose outside the Secretariat as police deployed a bus near the protest site of H B Nonglang, who is currently on an indefinite hunger strike against the Lumpongdeng project.

The bus, stationed along the roadside opposite the Secretariat gate, reportedly caused temporary disruption to vehicular movement before being removed by police, restoring normal traffic flow.

Speaking on the situation, Nonglang stated that his protest had not obstructed traffic and blamed the disruption on the police vehicle.

He further asserted that even if he is arrested, he will continue his hunger strike from inside jail, adding that the government would then have to take full responsibility.

The development marks a further escalation in the ongoing protest led by the Green Tech Foundation against the proposed 66-acre project at Umiam.
