Shillong: The State President of the National People’s Party and also Meghalaya’s MP to the Rajya Sabha, Dr.W.R Kharlukhi has sought a response on what is the ulterior motive that is stopping the Opposition, the All India Trinamool Congress from filing a complaint with the legal authorities over the alleged illegal coal mining and trade in the state.
Dr.Kharlukhi added also that if the Nokma of Garo Hills can take the step and file a complaint then, why has the AITC not followed suit or taken the same step, or are they being disallowed or stopped from doing this and when proofs and evidences are claimed to be in possession then they best come forward and reveal it to the world.
This statement by Dr.Kharlukhi was made on the basis of the allegations that a few coal traders are in a nexus with insurgents, which in actuality is only a political mileage talk made louder from time to time by people or groups who want to get a chance and opportunity in the political scene of the state.
Dr.Kharlukhi stood tall in his defence and stated that no such activities ever take place and the police force are also tasked with the goal to be vigilant over these illegal activities.
With regards to the complaint filed by the Nokma of Nengchigen village alleging a nexus of coal mine owners and insurgents, Dr. Kharlukhi clarified the same through the statement of the Acting DGP of Meghalaya that the complaints have been received and cases have also been registered and the police force from its end is continuously working hard to stop illegal mining and trade of coal in the State.
