SHILLONG, February 21: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Monday happily welcomed Erwin Sutnga to the party at a gathering held at the party office in Shillong.
Erwin Sutnga was welcomed by Pynshngain N.Syiem, Working President, Charles Marngar, MDC and other leaders of the Congress party. Erwin Sutnga is a lawyer and has taken active part in politics by contesting in elections in the past.
Speaking at the brief gathering, Sutnga said that this is his homecoming for in the past he had held the post of General Secretary of the Youth Congress. He said that the Indian National Congress (INC) is one of the biggest parties in Meghalaya and has served the state for a long period and it is through the Congress also that Meghalaya Statehood was achieved.
He further praised the Congress party by saying that this party has been instrumental in bringing many developmental works and which also brought a discrimination free and secular democracy.
Sutnga also expressed expressed his loss of faith in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government led by the NPP by stating that the state is on the verge of great difficulty.
