Shillong: The General Secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Dr Jemino Mawthoh said that it is “unfortunate” that such of disruption happened at the Assembly on Monday.
“It is quite unfortunate that this kind of thing is happening in the Assembly today because there was a disruption. But, by and large if we take it from the point of view of the people in Meghalaya, they will prefer a language that will be communicable to the people at large”, said the GS of the UDP.
However, Mawthoh further stated that the Assembly is a place given to a Legislator to express their views in any language but most importantly Mawthoh said the Legislator’s view is to connect with the people.
“…if the majority of the people do not understand hindi then I think whoever speaks in the Assembly should think about it”, he added.
