The Congress party has gained new support in West Shillong as former UDP organising secretary Gerrald Shullai, along with around 100 leaders and supporters from the UDP, NPP and VPP, officially joined Congress.
The leaders were warmly welcomed by MPCC President Vincent H. Pala and Shillong City President Dr. Omarlin Kyndiah during a gathering at Congress Bhavan, Shillong.
Speaking to reporters, Gerrald Shullai expressed no ill will toward the UDP, but noted he believes Congress offers a stronger future.
When asked about his departure from UDP, Gerrald clarified that he holds no grievances against MLA Paul or other party leaders.
He acknowledged that Paul Lyngdoh is a wise representative but suggested that one person alone may struggle to drive meaningful change within the UDP, said Gerrald.
