Truck driver injured after being attacked with stone by toll gate keepers of the KHADC

HEADLINES

Shillong: One truck driver sustained severe injuries after the toll gate keepers of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council attacked him with a stone only because the driver of the truck refused to pay the amount as demanded by them.

At the press conference, it was informed that the incident occured on the 6th of April at about 7:30 PM.

The truck driver was attacked only because he refused to pay the Rs. 400 demanded by the toll gate keepers.

Furthermore, while detailing the incident, the truck driver said that the complete CO had already been procured from Nongkasen which is Rs. 500 and when they reached at the other gate, this truck driver claimed that he needs to pay another Rs.200, however he claimed that these toll gate keepers took advantage and asked for another Rs. 400 more.

On being demanded an extra amount, the truck driver refused to pay and moved forward but allegedly these toll gate keepers who were already inebriated, picked up a flintstone lying on the road and hurled the same at the truck driver’s seat leaving him injured.

On this incident, the Meghalaya Commercial Truck Owners and Drivers Association came forward to clarify and also express their strong condemnation of the authorities incharge of the KHADC, over their continuance in operating the toll gates which is an illegal act.
