STATE GOVERNMENT AGREES TO GRANT RECOGNITION TO THE MEGHALAYA BUILDING BYE-LAWS OF THE KHADC

Shillong: Paul Lyngdoh,EM incharge of the Department of Building Bye-Laws and Town Planning Committee informed the Council that the State Government has accepted and approved to grant the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) the recognition to start the implementation of the Meghalaya Building Bye-Laws,2021.

While clarifying in the Budget Session of the KHADC today, Lyngdoh said that the Government has been instructed to prepare for the amendment of Section 2(1) of the Meghalaya Town and Planning Act, 1973 as it had been amended in the year 2003 which recognises the ADCs as the supervision teams under this act.

As it is at present, this matter is still being examined by the Law Department, expressed Lyngdoh while responding to a motion raised by the leader of the Opposition, P.N Syiem in the Council session today.

Lyngdoh also promised in the house that the amendment is in part to pave the way for the KHADC to start implementing the Meghalaya Building Bye-Laws,2021 in the next two months to come.
