Shillong: West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, has appealed to the public and various groups not to disturb the fragile peace that has returned to Lapangap village. Visiting the site where villagers resumed paddy harvesting, the SP assured that police are maintaining strict security to ensure safety.
He urged non-residents of Lapangap to refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could reignite tensions, emphasizing that calm and normalcy have started to prevail. Dhanoa added that peace dialogues have already taken place in the first phase and will continue into the next round to ensure lasting harmony in the area.
Police personnel remain stationed around the paddy fields to provide protection as farmers continue their work.
