Shillong: Harvesting activities in the paddy fields of Lapangap village, West Jaintia Hills, resumed this morning around 10 a.m. under the watchful presence of police personnel.
Hundreds of villagers from Lapangap came out in large numbers to harvest the ripe paddy, marking a positive turn after recent tensions in the area. They were joined by farmers and volunteers from nearby villages such as Sahsniang, Mober and others, who came to assist in the harvest as a show of solidarity.
Several Bolero pick-up trucks were stationed near the fields to transport the harvested paddy back to the homes of the farmers.
Men, women and youths participated enthusiastically, working side by side with sickles in hand to cut the paddy.
