Shillong, 6th October 2024: The Meghalaya State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has recovered the bodies of a father and son from floodwaters at Dalu Sonagre junction in West Garo Hills, following a search operation that began after their submerged car was found yesterday.
The body of the adult male, identified as 44-year-old Bijoy S. Sangma, was located at 10:19 AM in a paddy field. Shortly after, the body of his 13-year-old son, Wian Chigado R. Marak, was found at 10:48 AM a few meters away. Both were residents of Rongkhon Songgital, Tura.
The SDRF has been stationed in the flood-affected Dalu area since Friday, following heavy rainfall and flash floods.
