Personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) participated in a river clean-up campaign at Umkaliar River, a tributary of the Wah Umkhrah River.
The initiative, spearheaded by Patricia Mukhim, Editor of The Shillong Times, brought together SDRF personnel and other organisations to tackle pollution in the river.
Nearly two platoons of SDRF, led by three Inspectors, actively took part in the drive from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM, working collaboratively to clean the heavily polluted water body.
The campaign highlights growing community efforts to restore Shillong’s rivers and promote environmental awareness.
