Samlin Malngiang confirms that he will run from a different party in the Election

HEADLINES

Shillong, December 14: The HSPDP MLA from Sohïong constituency has at long last has indicated that he will be exiting the HSPDP, the party from which he had won as an MDC and MLA in 2018 and is presently preparing to contest from a new party in 2023.

While he has not yet disclosed which party he will be contesting from in the upcoming Election, the MLA while speaking with media persons said that what has been rumored around is possibly true and now, he is only awaiting to take a final call on the matter prior to moving forward.

As per the statement of Malngiang, the step taken by him comes after he had carefully examined the condition of governance in the State in the past years while being a representative and also a Minister of the State Government.

He said that in governance, a big party is necessary so that a stable Government can be assured with only one party ruling so that better service can be provided to the people.

On being queried about the former MLA, H.D.R Lyngdoh joining the UDP, Malngiang said that in the election in Sohïong, contesting from any party is the same or makes no difference.

It may be pointed that in 2018, Samlin Malngiang had contested on an HSPDP ticket and defeated the Congress candidate, H.D.R Lyngdoh, but now in the upcoming election, both of them will be contesting from new parties.
