The Meghalaya cricket team began its 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season with a home match against Jammu & Kashmir in the Elite Group A, held at the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) grounds in Polo, Shillong. Following a recent financial setback, the Meghalaya team rallied to make its debut in this highly anticipated tournament opener.
As per tradition, the MCA held a brief welcoming ceremony, presenting tokens of appreciation to the visiting Jammu & Kashmir team and match officials, which included field umpires C. Shamsuddin and Ch Ranvikanthreddy, and match referee Altaf Aziz Merchant from the BCCI. MCA President Naba Bhatacharjee, Secretary Gideon Kharkongor, and Treasurer alongside other members attended the event to support the Meghalaya team and the official guests.
