Nikolson Khongmawloh, the general secretary of Raid Shabong, Hima Khyrim, has strongly refuted allegations made by Sur U Paid ka Raid Shabong regarding the Syiem’s decision to transfer authority over Khun Longtrai Lai Kynthei. Khongmawloh stated that the Syiem fully understands the customs and traditions of the Hima and that the transfer aligns with historical practices, not new creations.
He explained that the Raid Shabong community was dismayed by the accusations against the Syiem and its leaders. He further clarified that the current controversy stems from the construction of a Two-Lane road, and accused former Sordar Biggestone Lyngdoh of seeking personal gain against the decisions made by the Raid, which prioritizes land ownership rights for the rightful owners.
Khongmawloh also revealed that a lawsuit filed against the decision was withdrawn, reaffirming that the Syiem’s actions were in accordance with the traditions and laws of the Hima.
