In a recent social media post, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi revealed a glimpse into his martial arts training, which he practiced during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra earlier this year. Sharing a video on his official X account, Gandhi demonstrated his expertise in jiu-jitsu and Aikido, hinting at the launch of a new initiative, “Bharat Dojo Yatra.”
The eight-minute video captures Gandhi engaging in martial arts sessions with fellow yatris and young enthusiasts from various towns along the Yatra route. He highlighted that what began as a personal fitness routine quickly became a communal activity, bringing together people of all ages to learn the “Gentle Art”—a combination of meditation, jiu-jitsu, Aikido, and techniques for non-violent conflict resolution.
Gandhi, who holds a black belt in Aikido and a blue belt in jiu-jitsu, expressed his desire to inspire others to adopt martial arts as a means of building a more compassionate society. He emphasized the importance of transforming aggression into gentleness, particularly in the context of creating a safer and more empathetic world.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which spanned over two months from Manipur to Mumbai, followed Gandhi’s earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. With the promise of the upcoming “Bharat Dojo Yatra,” Gandhi seems poised to continue his journey of uniting people across the country, this time through the lens of martial arts.
