SHILLONG, February 22: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that the Government will soon make an announcement to include Mawlai under the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as Mawlai does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Board.
He said that there is a confusion with regards to the implementation of schemes, while also stating that the Government understands that it is necessary for the good of all, and informed that after speaking with the Central Government, it has accepted the implementation of the MGNREGA and now only necessary formalities are required to be completed, following which Mawlai will be announced to fall under the MGNREGA.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister said that the Government has processed forward the shifting of Marten from Mawlai while also stating that the Government has identified a few places to shift Marten. With regards to the shifting of the CRPF camp, Sangma said that he had spoken with the higher officials of the CRPF several times and they have agreed to leave Mawlai as soon as another location is made available for them. He said that this demand will also be fulfilled as soon as possible.
The Chief Minister today the 22nd of February handed over one ambulance to the Seng Samla Mawlai Pyllun which has been funded through the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) 2021-2022.
On this day, a speeches were also delivered by the MDC of Mawlai, Teiborlang Pathaw, President of the SSMP, Samuel Biam and others. Headman and prominent members of Mawlai area as well as the public were also present on this day.
